Paulette's Amazing Story!

I have been attending Hot Yoga since January 31, 2013. I have been able to discontinue 2 medications and am now working on getting rid of the last two! I have dropped only 18 pounds, but that is without even thinking about dieting, much less trying to diet! In order to keep from buying new clothing, I am taking tucks in waistbands; however, there is nothing I can do about the fact that most of my shoes are now too big!!

When I began, I was totally unable to kneel at all. I tried folding my mat, but the pain was far too intense. Teddy gave me a towel, which helped, then suddenly, I found that I could kneel with little pain! The gluteus maximus and other muscles aren't quite yet able to do much in the kneeling postures. But just to be able to kneel; what a vast improvement!

My stamina is slowly improving. I spent two intense years, taking care of my mother while working and raising my daughter. After Mother died in December of 2011, I then spent the next year in a foggy whirlwind of autoimmune issues, doctor visits, 11 medications, including steroids, all while spending every non-working moment on my sofa. As 2012 drew to a close, I was forced to discuss retiring on disability. I could no longer walk from my classroom to the office without being winded and was in unbearable back pain. I was miserable, sick, tired, weak, and barely functioning.
